ABOUT US

What is Life On Main?

In early 2016, Pastors Tim and Tamara Golden were approached by the lead pastors of their local church to start a “missional congregation” in downtown Charlestown that would seek to meet the needs of the community, as well as those who were seeking a different size and style of church gathering. In November 2016, together with a handful of people from Life Fellowship (now Remix Church), the first service of “LIFE ON MAIN” was launched publicly. Its first meeting place was the St. Luke’s Episcopal Building (now St. Luke’s Mission) on Main Street in Charlestown where they continued to meet for almost 4 years. In 2021, the Episcopal Church sold the church building, which caused Life On Main to find other meeting accommodations. During the Summer months, Life On Main found itself meeting on the Golden’s property as they sought a more permanent solution.

In the Fall of 2021, the Charlestown Senior Center opened its doors to Life On Main, where the congregation continues to meet to this day. The use of the senior center in lieu of a traditional-style building was seen as a “step up” as it allows the congregation to have a visible connection to the community which is believed ultimately to provide increased opportunities to touch Charlestown in practical and powerful ways for the glory of God. We envision that the senior center is just a pit-stop on our way to a permanent facility that will allow us to do even more ministry and impact more people for the Kingdom. In the meantime, Life On Main is happy to call the center "home" as it serves our needs very well.

In the summer of 2021, right after the sale of St. Luke’s, Pastors Tim and Tamara were approached by our Foursquare District and Life Fellowship pastoral leadership to prayerfully consider taking the Life On Main congregation to the next level and become its own church. Through prayer, the Goldens and the leadership at Life On Main felt a unity of heart and spirit in this move and began the process of becoming a covenant church under Foursquare. In January 2022, this process became a reality. As we move forward in our new identity, we believe that God has great things in store for Life On Main.

We have built strong relationships with other churches in the area across denominational lines. We partner with another pastor from a nondenominational church in providing a televised Bible study on community television that has touched people worldwide in about 700 towns across 43 U.S. states and 34 different countries. We do local outreaches on an ongoing basis with the Anglican Church in our town as well. We are currently offering spiritual and emotional support to a Baptist church is a neighboring community as they currently navigate a time of transition.

We have seen ministries emerge from others within our church, including (1) a non-profit organization known as Greater Things Ministries which serves missions here at home and in the Philippines in outreach and church planting; (2) a school of ministry that has one location locally and 6 others in foreign countries raising up hundreds of students to preach the gospel; (3) The King's Table - a regional special needs ministry that provides a church service and discipleship strategies to meet the specific needs of this vulnereable population; (4) a local initiative known as "Fix-It" ministry that utilizes handyman and mechanical sills as a gateway to spiritual discipleship; and (6) an overseas ministry in Africa known as Empowered By Livstock, that provides livestock to selected pastors, along with veterinary training and support, who pass offspring or eggs to other pastros and church families in need. This is for the pupose of support, evangelism, and discipleship. You can learn more about these ministries and other discipleship initiatives on our "Life Hub" page. We are very excited and move forward with great anticipation for what God is yet to do through Life On Main.

There are three distinctives that differentiate LIFE ON MAIN from a number of churches in our region. These distinctives have marked tour DNA as a church body and we sense that it is not just character traits, but a special calling the Lord has placed upon our church. We seek to be ...

A Biblically Relevant Church

LIFE ON MAIN is a church that seeks to be relevant to our culture, while at the same time remaining true to the Word of God. We look for ways to touch our world in real and practical ways while keeping the integrity of Scripture. We believe that the Bible should define how we live our lives, not the other way around.

Traditional, but not Typical

Our worship style is traditional, comprised mostly of timeless hymns, as well as contemporary songs. When we come together, we worship God through music that crosses generational barriers, knowing the way we live is our true "worship song". Our desire is that when people worship God, they experience the presence of God in their lives.

Interdenominational in Scope

Our aim is to unite with other God-fearing, Jesus-believing, Bible-adhering churches in our area for the purpose of advancing the kingdom of God, regardless of denominational affiliation. We see the value of each of these unique expressions of God's love and seek to build on each other's strengths for greater fruitfulness in our communities.

Our Vision & Values

LOVE = Love is at the core of all we do. We love God because He first loved us. We love fellow believers because God's love is the adhesive that binds us together. And we love the lost because God's love for them is in our hearts.

INSTRUCTION = Teaching the truths of God's Word is vital for any church that would grow up in the "unity of the faith," avoid error, and bring the body to the place of maturity the Lord has for them.

FELLOWSHIP = The Cross of Christ is both vertical and horizontal in nature. Our fellowship must first be heavenward in relationship with Christ, and secondly, peopleward in relationship with one another in the body.

EVANGELISM = "It's all about a soul." Jesus came to save sinners, and our charge is to do the same.

Our Affiliation

LIFE ON MAIN was founded in 2016 and belongs to a denomination, the International Church of the Foursquare Gospel. The Foursquare Church was founded by Aimee Semple McPherson in 1923 with the opening of Angelus Temple in Los Angeles, CA. Today there are over 68,500 churches in 150 countries! We are proud to be a part of this family and part of something bigger than ourselves. Although part of a denomination, LIFE ON MAIN seeks to partner with other Bible-believing Trinitarian churches in the area to advance the gospel in our region and beyond!

Meet Our Pastors and Staff

Timothy & Tamara Golden - Lead Pastors

We have ministered in many Christian denominations over the years in numerous roles. We are ordained pastors who have 30 years of pastoral ministry within the Foursquare Church as worship pastors, church planters, interim pastors, and lead pastors. We served at Hope Chapel in Keene, NH as worship/assistant pastors in the mid to late 1990s. We were sent out to plant a church in Walpole, NH where we served as lead pastors from 1999-2008. We then served at Life Fellowship in Charlestown, NH (now Remix Church) as assistant pastors from 2008-2016, while in 2009 serving as interim pastors at Journey Church in South Royalton, VT. In 2016, we were sent out to launch and pastor Life On Main. We also serve many roles in the community and beyond: Heritage Commission, Old Home Days Committee, law enforcement chaplain, regional representative for a statwide interdenominational network of churches and ministries, and co-producer of "Heartline Ministries" - a Bible study broadcast on a regional TV station. We are also proud parents of 3 adult children, all who are serving the Lord... and 3 grandchildren.

Sharon Boyden - Assistant Pastor, Women's Ministries

I came to know the Lord in 1998 at Calvary Chapel in Fort Lauderdale, FL. I served in various ministries during my years there, including foreign missions. In 2009, I moved to NH and began attending our sister church, Life Fellowship (now, Remix Church). While there, I led numerous missions teams on trips to The Relief Bus in New York City. This led me to start "His Helping Hands" in Claremont, NH - a food outreach that ministered to the less fortunate, where I served as director for over 5 years. I received my District Ministerial License in May 2012 and was ordained in September 2018. In 2020, I became a Foursquare chaplain and served this role at Sullivan County Nursing Center. I currently oversee the Women's Ministry at Life On Main.

Lance Nelson - Assistant Pastor

I am an ordained minister within the Foursquare Church and assist the lead pastors with pastoral functions to the congregation at Life On Main. We became involved with the Charlestown Foursquare Church (now, Remix Church) in 1990, where I first began serving as an assisting minister. We partnered with the lead pastors at the launch of Life On Main. Our ministry focus is on seniors in the church and community. My wife Dottie and I also served "missionally" in the past as "camp pastors" at a secular campground in south-central NH for 6 years.

Dottie Nelson - Administrative Assistant

I assist Life On Main with the clerical and organizational aspects of the ministry. I have served alongside my husband, Lance at the Charlestown Foursquare Church (now, Remix Church) for many years. I have served in an administrative capacity for both businesses and ministries. I feel that a great administrator is essential to church growth, freeing up pastors to function in their calling. Now retired in one sense of the word, my husband and I devote our time to ministry. We have gleaned much experience over many years in many churches from coast to coast. we are blessed to have touched many lives through ministry in New England.

Laurie Palmer - Intercessory Ministries

I oversee the various prayer ministries at Life on Main. My husband Jim and I have served in Foursquare churches for about 30 years. I have ministered to children, both teaching and leading, for most of this time. I believe that prayer is a catalyst for the move of the Holy Spirit and crucial to the effectiveness and fruitfulness of the church. I serve as director of Greater Things Ministries, a non-profit organization supporting missionaries in the Philippines and in our local area. I help my husband maintain our new home, where we raise fruit, vegetables, and flower gardens.

Sonja Stefan - Minister of Music

I made a choice to follow Jesus at age 10. I have sung in church choirs, ministry groups, and senior convalescent homes. My biggest moment was being involved in the Billy Graham Choir during his crusades. In 1995, I moved to NH and began singing with worship teams in various evangelical churches and became involved in Christian theatre. In 2012, my husband John and I started attending our sister church, Life Fellowship (now, Remix Church), where we kept busy with hospitality, custodial, and maintenance duties. In 2017, I followed the Lord's leading on my heart and joined the choir at Life On Main. In August 2021, I accepted the position of Minister of Music at Life On Main. In 2022, my husband and I completed ministry training through the International School of Ministry.
